Day trip from Nuremberg: Bamberg, Germany!

Bamberg - DeeGaronePhotography.com

There are so many amazing little towns and villages within only an hour or two drive from Nuremberg just not enough weekends to visit them! Are you looking for something to do with the family for a day but dont want to travel far? Dont go any farther than Bamberg!

Built by the same architects as those who created Prague, built on seven hills like Rome, and cut by the rivers like the veins of Venice. Bamberg is not only a work of art, but a huge arts and culture city, thriving over the many years because of its picture perfect fisherman-style homes along the river, the (now closed) U.S. base, and its cultural pull.

The Cathedral, built in 1237, has the only papal grave north of the Alps, the Cathedral Square, with its renaissance façade, is where festivals, shows, and sunbathing happens, and the world renowned Old City Hall that is in the middle of the Regnitz and only accessible via two bridges. Everywhere you look you will find a piece of this towns story.

Without the history though, Bamberg is still worth a day of getting lost. Travel through the alleys and discover adorable houses, colorful shops, magnificent architecture, and what we have decided is one of the most delicious German food restaurants we have tried so far! Take your picnic basket and enjoy a day in the Urban Park, take pictures along the river, and tour the rose garden as it begins to bloom. Take advantage of the beautiful scenery around you, only a 50-minute drive from Nuremberg.
