National " Take a Walk in the Park" Day - Why not?
The birds are out, the sun is shining, it must mean WINTER IS OVER! As I was warned, winter here was quite short, although it did snow a few more times than the previous year (sadly only able to build a snowman once…), but I am a happy Floridian in Nuremberg when I can feel the vitamin D absorb into my skin. In honor of this totally awesome holiday, I will be out enjoying the sun and making sure I take it all in! If you haven’t been able to enjoy the weather yet, don’t you worry! There are plenty of BEAUTIFUL places to sit and relax, have a picnic, soak up the sun, and take in all of the wonders that this amazing city has to offer.
Nuremberg Zoo
Am Tiergarten 30
Opening hours; Mar. - Oct. 8 a.m. - 7.30 p.m., in winter 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Admission: Adult 13,50€
This Nuremberg “tiergarden” is a wonderful place to start on my list of perfect parks in Nurmberg. Featuring over 300 species of animals in what I can only describe as a natural park with a few fences between you and the animals. I have never before been to a zoo where you are so close to the animals and actually feel like you are stepping into their environments and not that they are being trapped in cages or enclosures. Pegnitz Meadows
Pegnitzweg, 90482 Nürnberg
Open hours: daily - 24 hours

The Pegnitz is a small river that runs through most of northern Bavaria, and as it is surrounded by large trees, with soothing sounds of the small rapids and bird songs, it is the perfect running trail. As I run along the river I have seen a huge difference in the atmosphere as the sun came out of hiding. Spring came and the grass turned green again and all of a sudden the park was filled with visitors! Jogging, Barbequing, skating, playing toss with the dogs, you name it and people where doing it! With many soccer (excuse me… football) fields and ample space to play ultimate Frisbee, this is the perfect place to waste away a Sunday!
