12 Tips for Your Wedding Day

There are a million different tips, I can tell you how to stay more organized in your wedding.  But here are some of my absolute favorites that will help you get through the day without a hitch.

Some of my favorite tips to make sure you're staying organized for your big day.

#1: Your own email address

Having an email address that is wedding specific will make your life a lot easier later on. Especially once you're married, you can unsubscribe and close the account and not worry about hearing from the 72 florists that you message for quotes. And I'm sorry, 'cause it is what we do.

#2: Spend Wisely

Don't just spend, to spend because it's a wedding day. Make sure you're spending wisely to set up for marriage, not just a big wedding day.

# 3: Designated Texter

Have a designated texter, because, in reality, you want to unplug.  If you're continually getting bombarded with text messages and questions and phone calls from far off aunts who are in for the weekend and have no idea where to go. Make sure that your phone is given to someone who can respond and text on your behalf and will hold on to your phone for the day.

# 4: Dress Up

As a photographer, I will tell you, absolutely dress up when you're getting ready on your wedding day. Make sure that you're wearing something that is not your old PJ's from college. It's not something a lot of people think about because they're just, you know, putting their makeup on and getting their hair done. But I'm going to be there to take your photos, and if you're not getting one of those cool floral robes for the one day then what's the point of having these photos taken.

#5: What to Wear

As for what exactly to wear, make sure it has a loose neck, zipper, or some buttons so that once your hair is beautiful and done, you don't have to struggle to get out of your shirt or cut yourself out of it.

#6: Break-in Your Shoes

Break-in those shoes, whether you're wearing super high heels on your big day or your groom has some new shiny shoes that he's never worn before you do not want to have blisters on your big day. Break them in!

7#: Signs Everywhere!

Make sure to have a clear-signage throughout the venue at the hotel and at the rehearsal dinner. There should be a million signs, so no one is confused as to what exactly you need.

If you haven't seen my video on all the DIY signs that you need to be sure you make for your wedding, here is the LINK.

#8: Grand Exit

One of my favorite parts is the grand exit. Everyone loves a fantastic sparkler exit or confetti thrown everywhere. No matter if it's your exit from the ceremony or your departure from the entire wedding, we want to make sure we capture it.

There are quite a few venues who have stipulations on what you can actually throw or do for your exit. But there's also a lot of things that are very difficult to pick up.

#9: Clean Up

Unless all of your family members are willing to help sweep the grass afterward, making sure the venue is clean, and you don't get charged the fee. You may want to think of some biodegradable confetti. Anything that is good for the environment or suitable for the animals.

Make sure the confetti is big. Ok not that big but it needs to be like rose petals size. Because it shows up better in photos, easier to clean up after, and it's better in pictures.

#10: Group Photos

If you have large group family photos,, that's completely doable. We just need to make sure that there is time allotted for it.

#11: Speeches

Speeches are lovely and may I also suggest a vow book or a paper of a handwritten speech, that you can keep forever and put into a scrapbook or put into the album.

Photographers want to take photos of this and it is something you could very easily keep forever and memorialize this beautiful speech.

#12: No Stress

You are going to spend so much time organizing and planning and working with all these vendors. Unfortunately, it doesn't always go as planned. Whether it is a delay because of traffic, because something came in the wrong color, it starts to rain.

Whatever the case, you are organized, and you are ready for everything.

Don't let the little things stress you out, go with the flow, smile. It will be a beautiful day.

If you have any questions whatsoever, I can give you tips to make sure you're organized, staying on budget and keeping it crafty!
