Wedding Photography: First Look ideas with your Fiancé
I don’t know one photographer that would not suggest doing a First Look at your wedding! Honestly.
What is a First Look?: The First time you will see your Partner on the wedding day.
Tradition has it the groom will not see the bride until she walks down the aisle because it was in fear that the groom would call the wedding off when he saw his arranged bride for the first time if it was before the ceremony (that’s why the veil exists too!)
While traditions make the wedding what it is today, there are a few that I will say could get pushed out. Seeing your bride walking down the aisle towards you is still an amazing moment, no matter if you have seen each other today or not. A first look photo session before the ceremony begins could save you time, anxiety, and even a few headaches in a timeline.
Why a First Look?
Alleviate the anxieties and the nerves! Have a moment together, just the two of you in order to not only breathe each other in, but get your bridal portraits done beforehand and be romantic and take it easy before the wedding madness and your family arrives.
Make your timeline a bit easier. Cocktail hour was originally meant to distract your guests during the time you needed to take your bridal portraits, family portraits, and bridal party shots. If you can take those images ahead of time with an easy going timeline, you can still capture a few after the ceremony but it does not need to take up the typical hour to hour and a half.
Give yourself a built in Plan B with a time buffer. By planning to have your photos taken ahead of time, you can always rearrange the schedule if there are delays. Push the bridal party photos back to cocktail hour if you need to make up for time the hair stylist took a bit longer then originally calculated.
